Full job description

As a medical office assistant, your responsibilities will include checking patients in and out and ensuring a smooth patient flow throughout the office. You will be responsible for collecting co-pays and payments for services and entering registration information into the electronic medical record system (eCW). Verifying patient insurance eligibility before appointments and assisting with referrals and pre-authorization for medical services will also be part of your role.

Efficiently scheduling patients and following up with them for missed or canceled appointments is crucial. You may also be involved in patient recruitment and will need to handle incoming telephone calls, redirecting them as necessary, and recording messages. Additionally, tasks such as faxing and responding to emails will be part of your daily routine.

Maintaining accurate and complete patient records while strictly upholding patient confidentiality is of utmost importance. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required, as is proficiency in common office software such as Word and Excel. You must have the ability to enter data accurately and work both independently and as part of a team. Time management skills, social perceptiveness, and a self-motivated approach are also essential.

In addition to patient-related responsibilities, administrative duties such as scheduling, stocking supplies, sorting and sending mail, answering and directing phone calls, and greeting visitors will be part of your role.
