You should also have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in labor and delivery.   1. Provide compassionate and comprehensive care to pregnant women, including prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care.
  2. Conduct physical exams, monitor fetal development, and perform routine screenings and tests.
  3. Develop and implement individualized care plans for pregnant women, taking into consideration their medical history, preferences, and needs.
  4. Educate and support expectant mothers on various aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.
  5. Monitor and assist with the progress of labor, including administering medications and providing emotional support.
  6. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
  7. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  8. Document all patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
  9. Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in midwifery care.
  10. Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to midwifery care.
  11. Mentor and train new midwives and other healthcare professionals.
  12. Provide support and guidance to patients and their families during the postpartum period.
  13. Advocate for the rights and choices of pregnant women, promoting a positive and empowering birthing experience.
  14. Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve the quality of care provided to patients.

Job Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree In Nursing With A Specialization In Midwifery: The Ideal Candidate For A Clinical Midwife Position At Mercy Should Have A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing, With Specific Training And Coursework In Midwifery. This Will Ensure That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Provide Comprehensive Care To Pregnant Women And Assist In Childbirth.

Certification As A Certified Nurse-Midwife (Cnm): A Cnm Certification Is Required For A Clinical Midwife Position At Mercy. This Certification Is Obtained Through The American Midwifery Certification Board And Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The National Standards For Midwifery Practice.

Previous Experience In A Hospital Or Clinical Setting: Prior Experience Working As A Midwife In A Hospital Or Clinical Setting Is Highly Valued For This Position. It Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Handle Various Aspects Of Maternal Care, From Prenatal To Postpartum Care, And Work Collaboratively With Other Healthcare Professionals.

Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Clinical Midwife, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Expectant Mothers, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Providers. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential To Establish Trust And Provide Quality Care.

Knowledge Of Evidence-Based Practice And Current Trends In Midwifery: Mercy Values Candidates Who Stay Updated On The Latest Trends And Evidence-Based Practices In Midwifery. This Includes Knowledge Of Current Guidelines For Prenatal Care, Labor And Delivery, And Postpartum Care, As Well As The Ability To Incorporate Evidence-Based Practices Into Their Care Plans.
